Our Claims department is committed to making the claims process as streamlined as possible for our customers. Below are answers to questions we frequently receive. If you don’t find the information you need, please contact us. We are here to serve you.


  • How do I report a claim?

    Reporting a claim using our web reporting forms is the most efficient channel and will guide you through the claim reporting process.

    We have a web form available for the following claim types:

    *Please note, the auto web form is the form that should also be used by automotive dealerships.

  • Can I report a Record Only (Let Rest) claim?

    Insured reporters have the option to report most claims as Record Only. A Record Only claim is a report of loss involving a Zurich insured in which no claim activity is anticipated. The reported information is entered into our claim system so there is a record of it; however, no action will be taken by Zurich.

  • How do I submit documents associated with my claim? 

    We offer a few options for uploading a document to a claim depending on where you are in the claim process.

    I would like to upload a document while reporting a claim using a web form.

    If you are reporting a claim on one of our web forms, you will be given the opportunity to upload a document within the form in the “Documents & Photos” tab. If you do not have the documents at the time you report your loss, we have other options for you to upload and attach your documents to your claim file.

    I would like to upload a claim-related document to an existing claim online.

    You can upload a document to an existing claim at any time using our online document upload tool. This is our most efficient channel and it helps you easily submit supporting documents associated with your claim at any time.

    In order to use our online document upload tool, you will need your 10-digit claim number and date of loss to confirm the document is linked to the correct claim file.

    There are quick links for document upload throughout the zurichna.com website in the drop-down features, you can select “Upload a claim document” to get to our online solution.

    For both channels, be sure to include your claim number and date of loss to ensure we get the documents to the appropriate Claim Professional for handling.

  • What types of documents might be helpful to upload or include when reporting a claim?

    Some suggested documents that your Claim Professional might find helpful include:

    • Photographs
    • Incident reports
    • Police or fire reports
    • Estimates
    • Medical bills or records
    • Contracts
    • Lawsuits
    • Property appraisals
    • Bill of lading
  • What types of files can I upload using the online document upload tool?

    We are currently able to accept the following files and formats:
    DOC, DOCX, PPTX, PPTM, PPT, POTX, PPS, PPSM, PPSX, PUB, RTF, HTM, HTML, XLS, XLSX, XLSB, PDF, TXT, BMP, JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIF, TIFF, PNG, EXIF. 

    Click “Upload Files” to find file types. Maximum size limit of a single file is 70 MB. Maximum size limit for total uploaded files is 200 MB.

  • What happens after I report my claim?

    You will receive an email confirmation containing the following pieces of information:

    • Receipt of your claim
    • Your 10-digit claim number
    • Next step instructions

    Email confirmations are sent immediately following report of a claim using our web forms. If you reported using another claim-reporting channel, email confirmations are typically sent within a few hours of filing your claim.

  • How do I check the status of my claim?

    Please contact your claim professional for updates. If you do not have your claim professionals contact information, you can call us at 1-800-987-3373 or use our chatbot Zuri on our website (look for it at the bottom of the screen). Choose the option for “Questions on an Existing Claim.”

  • What if I have a question related to an existing claim?

    If you have a claim-related question, please contact your claim professional. If you do not have your claim professionals contact information, you can call us at 1-800-987-3373. If you have not filed a claim, and have general questions regarding coverage, please contact your broker/agent.

    If you have a question regarding a medical bill payment for your workers’ compensation claim:

  • How do I locate my claim professional?

    If you have just filed a new claim, please be advised that it may take up to one business day for a Zurich Claim Professional to be assigned to your claim.

    Use our online “Locate My Claim Professional” tool.
    Enter your 10-digit claim number and date of loss. The tool will then provide you with your Claim Professional’s name and contact information.

  • What information is helpful to have when reporting a claim?

    At the First Notice of Loss, provide as much detail as possible. We understand that you may not have all the information immediately available. Once further details of the loss or claim are known, you can simply contact your Claim Professional or upload documents with the information online.

    All claims: These details are useful to have readily available for all claim types

    • Accident/loss details: How, when and where the accident/loss occurred, including the severity of damages/injuries sustained, if applicable.
    • Contact information for the Zurich insured person most knowledgeable about the claim.
    • Claimant details: Claimant/company name, contact information, date of birth, social security number and other available information in order to comply with insurance claim handling/reporting guidelines.
    • Insured name: The entity and/or company name that has a policy with Zurich.
    • The parent company name, doing business as (DBA), program or management company name to which your location, entity, subsidiary or franchise, or business is associated.
    • The name, phone number and relationship of the person reporting the claim in the event additional information is needed.
    • Site code: The site, store, branch or job number associated with your account’s specific location.

    Workers’ compensation: In addition to the details that are useful for all claim types, the following details are important pieces of information to include for a workers’ compensation claim.

    • Accident location details: The physical address or location where the accident occurred. If the specific address/location is unknown, provide the state and/or county where the accident took place.
    • Benefit state: The state or jurisdiction that will govern benefits for injured workers under Workers’ Compensation, Longshore and Harbor or Defense Base Act insurance.
    • All employment details to include if your employee will be losing time from work, including last date worked and returned to work.
    • Injury details: The nature and severity of injuries and body parts affected, including if the accident resulted in death. When available, provide all details of where the injured worker sought medical treatment.

    Commercial Auto: In addition to the details that are useful for all claim types, the following details are important pieces of information to include for a commercial auto claim.

    • Accident/loss location details: The physical address or location where the accident occurred. If the specific address/location is unknown, provide the state and/or county where the accident took place.
    • Environmental exposure: Indicate if there was a spill or other environmental exposure (e.g., accidental release of hazmat, diesel fuel, other regulated materials, etc.) that may require emergency environmental cleanup.
    • Injury details: The nature and severity of injuries and body parts affected, including if the accident resulted in death sustained by drivers, passengers and/or pedestrians related to the accident.
    • Property damages: The types and severity of damages to physical and/or personal property involved in the accident, as well as who owns the property.
    • Details for all vehicles involved in the accident, including the type and severity of damages to each vehicle, if applicable. If available, indicate where the vehicles are located.

    Property: In addition to the details that are useful for all claim types, the following details are important pieces of information to include for a property claim.

    • Business interruption: If known/applicable, whether your business or company will be closed or unable to operate as a result of loss or other circumstances that prevents your business or company from being able to operate.
    • Loss details and loss type (peril): Details related to where, how and what caused the damages to occur to the Zurich-insured property. If the details of loss are unknown, provide the loss type (peril) that closely relates to the type of loss being reported or damages sustained (e.g., theft, water, fire).
    • Property damage details: Information regarding the type of property that sustained the loss (buildings, contents, glass breakage, etc.) and the extent of damages (e.g., estimated cost, repair, replacement, value of the property).
    • Restoration/mitigation company details: The name of the restoration/mitigation company and contact information of who has assisted or will assist in preventing further damage/loss to your business.

    Environmental: In addition to the details that are useful for all claim types, the following details are important pieces of information to include for an environmental claim.

    • Environmental exposure: Indicate if there was a spill or other environmental exposure (e.g., accidental release of hazmat, diesel fuel, other regulated materials, etc.) that may require emergency environmental cleanup.
    • Injury details: The nature and severity of injuries and body parts affected, including if the accident resulted in death. When available, provide the date of death.
    • Property damages: The third-party property owner information, along with the types and severity of damages to any physical and/or personal property involved in the accident.
    • Personal and advertising injury: Details of the person making the complaint and the type of offense alleged, if applicable.
